(FILES) This portrait dated November 15, 1938 of Charles Faroux, motor sports reporter for La Vie Automobile, and one of the founders of the 24 Hours of Le Mans car race. Conceived by journalist Charles Faroux and the president of the Automobile Club de l'Ouest (ACO) Georges Durand, shortly after the First World War, the first edition of the endurance race was run 26 and 27 May 1923. The 24 Hours of Le Mans race is held annually since 1923 and is meant not only to test a car and driver's ability to be quick, but also to last over a 24-hour period.
