(FILES) (COMBO) This combination of photographs created on October 15, 2025 shows the logos of French telecom companies SFR, in Paris on June 16, 2025, Bouygues Telecom in Caen on November 29, 2019, Free in Paris on March 10, 2016 and Orange, in Bethune on February 18, 2014. The European Commission has referred the review of the proposed acquisition of SFR to the French Competition Authority, the latter announced in a press release on July 15, 2026. "The European Commission has concluded that the French Competition Authority is best placed to review this transaction," the Authority stated. In June 2026, the three French operators Iliad (Free), Bouygues and Orange reached a memorandum of understanding to acquire their competitor, but the question of whether the European Commission or the French Authority had jurisdiction to review the transaction had not yet been resolved.
