(FILES) Music producer Michel Zecler poses for a photo session in his offices in Saint-Cloud, western Paris, on October 28, 2026. On November 21, 2020, Michel Zecler was the victim of a violent beating at the hands of police officers, captured by surveillance cameras. Six years after - and with the trial of the police officers approaching on November 9 - the music producer remains deeply affected, both emotionally and by a sense of "anger" regarding the police violence that he believes continues to persist in France. Voters in Los Angeles will settle a surprisingly competitive mayoral race in Tuesday's midterm vote, a bitter showdown between two progressive women of color who were once allies. Nithya Raman, an 11th-hour entrant against Democratic incumbent Karen Bass, has generated significant momentum against the 73-year-old political veteran, whose leadership has sowed anger on a wide range of issues including homelessness and wildfire response.
